*Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC), the state-run mining arm of the Indian state of Odisha, has officially commenced production at the Dubna iron ore mines, according to a government statement released on May 22.
The Dubna mines contain 25.77 million metric tons of iron ore reserves and are expected to yield approximately 3 million metric tons of iron ore annually. In addition to iron ore, the resource block holds an estimated 2.6 million metric tons of manganese ore, with projected yearly production of around 50,000 metric tons.
To enhance value addition, the Odisha government has instructed OMC to plan the construction of a pellet plant. The initiative aims to optimize the use of mined resources and strengthen the state's mining sector.
The launch of production at Dubna marks another milestone in Odisha’s efforts to expand its mining activities and increase the output of key raw materials critical for various industries. The development is expected to contribute to the region’s economic growth and bolster India’s mineral supply chain.
